DHS Sec. Mayorkas has overseen nearly 10 million illegal crossings in three years

Belgrade, MT – Tim Sheehy today blasted Senator Jon Tester for voting to dismiss an impeachment trial for Joe Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas. An architect of the current crisis at the southern border, Mayorkas has overseen nearly 10 million illegal crossings during his tenure.

“Jon Tester has worked hand in glove with Joe Biden to aid the invasion taking place at our southern border,” Sheehy said. “At every turn, Tester has walked in lockstep with the left’s radical open border agenda, voting for taxpayer-funded flights for migrants, for sanctuary cities, and against the Laken Riley Act, to detain and deport criminal aliens. This is all while everyday Montanans are struggling to make ends meet. Everyone should be outraged that Jon Tester does more for illegal immigrants in Washington than he does for legal taxpaying American citizens.

“Enough is enough with Tester’s two-faced charade. We need leaders in the U.S. Senate with the backbone to do what’s right, restore accountability in D.C., finish the wall, and seal the border once and for all.”

Jon Tester and Senate Democrats killed an impeachment inquiry into Secretary Mayorkas for his “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” and “breach of public trust.”

In February 2021, in support of Sec. Mayorkas’ confirmation, Tester said, “It’s our duty to put somebody in this role who is up to the task to get things done. And I’m here to assure you that Ali Mayorkas is that man.” On April 16, when the articles of impeachment were presented in the U.S. Senate against Sec. Mayorkas, Jon Tester turned and ran off the Senate floor.

Tester’s vote to dismiss the trial comes on the heels of a series of other votes last month that enable the Biden administration’s open borders agenda.

·      Tester voted against the Laken Riley Act, which would require federal immigration authorities to arrest and detain criminal illegal immigrants until they are deported. The Laken Riley Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives in a bipartisan vote of 251-170.

·      Tester voted against barring taxpayer-funded flights for illegal migrants. In 2023, 320,000 migrants were flown to cities and communities across America, according to a report by the Center for Immigration Studies.

·      Tester voted against including a citizenship question in the census, allowing illegal immigrants to be counted for House district and the Electoral College apportionment.
